Another graduation is over and the kids are moving on to their lives outside of high school. Although I am very proud and happy for the ones that graduated, I could not help but be sad for the 17 seniors who didn’t get to graduate (and didn’t get to participate in the ceremony) because they haven’t passed a section of the TAKS test. My desire is that they hang in there, take the test over the summer and pass it so they can participate in commencement ceremonies this summer. I will certainly be there to cheer them on as they cross the stage as I hope many other teachers are. I want their graduation to be remembered by them as a momentous event and not just as the ceremony they were not allowed to take part in.
